Recorded in one take one late night near the old Echo Park stomping grounds of Tom Waits and Bukowski (Alverado and Temple, LA street fans), Greatest Unknown came out as I think it was meant to be. I tried to re-sing the lead vocal a few times, but we just decided to keep the first take with all its cracks and technical imperfections. The song is about the passage of time and the bittersweet nostalgia of revisiting people, places and fleeting moments.
Don’t miss hearing Pony Boy in Phoenix, AZ at the Crescent Ballroom, 4/8 and Los Angeles at the Troubadour, 4/9.
