First Lady - Michelle Obama's Best-Dressed Moments

Ever since she stepped out in that red-and-black Narciso Rodriguez dress on election night in 2008, Michelle Obama has redefined what’s appropriate fashion for the FLOTUS. Not only is she one of the biggest champions of up-and-coming American designers—like Jason Wu, Thakoon, and Doo-Ri—but she’s also kept things refreshingly down-to-earth and utterly unexpected. One day she’ll look stunning (not stuffy) for a state dinner in Michael Kors—and the next she’s chicly sporting J.Crew. “She is a modern First Lady, unrestricted by outdated codes or fussy ideas of what a woman in her position should wear,” said Tracy Reese, who designed the striking pink sheath worn by Mrs. Obama for her Democratic National Convention speech. “Her style is feminine yet strong, fashion-forward yet accessible.” She's changed the sartorial status quo and broken all of the old rules out there regarding style, making fashion more democratic and fun for all. The world is only guessing what she’ll wear next. With this in mind, in celebration of her second Vogue cover, we pay homage to a few of our favorite Michelle Obama looks.
